Which songs give you goosebumps?
by LoveUniHateExams ini don't know if this topic has been covered before - it might 've been.. i also recommend flipper's excellent music thread ('what songs have you been listening to?
', or similar).. but, i'd just like to start a thread about certain songs giving me goosebumps.
y'know, when you hear a song that profoundly effects you in some difficult-to-describe way and the hairs on your arm stand on end even though the room temperature's comfortably warm.. so, which songs give you goosebumps?.

My Grandmothers Funeral

she was a loyal jw, and unfortunately i am not understanding of the funeral procedures.
please could you kindly explain what what will happen in the funeral?

Condolences. Unhappily a JW memorial is as described. They do have someone from the witnesses relate an anecdote at times in addition to the preacher. He will read verbatim the information from the remembrance card( I cant think of the proper name) complete with mispronouncing names. Then say " she wanted you to know" ; then go into the sermon part. The song will most likely be a recording from their song book, nothing else allowed. Be aware the songs go from tolerable to dismal in arrangement and tune. I have heard applause twice at the end like it was a play or movie. 🙄
If they have a reception you may be able to read your poem there. Ask. You can post it on the funeral home memorial page. Or put it here, we will appreciate the sentiment.
I know of a few who have forgone any memorial, i think because of the disappointed hope they had.

Were / Are the Governing Body "Rock Stars"
by Number 6 inin 1976 when i was a young lad of 6, fred franz came to glasgow and gave a talk in govan a suburb on the south side of the city (for those of you who dont know).
our congregation hired a bus to ferry us all to the hall and it was standing room only.
being only 6, i have only the vaguest of memories other than an old man shouting and bawling from the stage.

I was a back stage attendant when freddy came to give a talk. He shook hands with all us and you could just see that he was very glad we got to meet him. Worst part is i am told he was one of the more humble ones

You can go back further. The tribes always fueded there and always will.
The one thing WT got partly right is the dominance of Anglo American powers even if they do keeping changing details about dates and significance.
Without oil the whole place would be left alone and we would still fantasize about exotic harems. If any of us actually got into a harem we would pay dearly.

Either a false story or a person afraid of getting outed by giving too much information.
Few of us who are pimo can speak freely so it would be hard for a whole body to come to such a step
A repeat of that cong in California? Or the one in Texas, except the halls I assume are owned by WT now

Not wine with a meal, or aperitif, but slugging it down, sometimes with zantac. A long gone elder told me about the meeting, drink to keep things going. Only thing missing was seegars
I had " shepherding" calls where they has some wine to relax us
